The Innovation

What is so special about HELVESANA® is, that it contains the poorly water soluble ingredients coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E in a fully water-soluble form on the basis of a patented procedure.

It has been shown in scientific studies on coenzyme Q10 that this procedure increases the bioavailability (= uptake of coenzyme Q10 into the body) several times compared to generic coenzyme Q10 formulations.

The effectiveness of water soluble coenzyme Q10

In customary products the fat-soluble components like coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E are included as an emulsion or as fat droplets. These emulsions break in the acidic environment of the stomach (pH < 2) and a separation into a water and a fat phase occurs. The subsequent digestion and intake requires biliary salts and enzymes to generate natural micelles (small globular aggregates). For customary products the resulting uptake by the intestine is therefore strongly reduced.

In HELVESANA® products the fat-soluble ingredients coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E are already included in a completely water soluble micelle-form on the basis of a patented procedure. These micelles are stable even in the acidic environment of the stomach and are taken up very rapidly.

The significantly increased uptake and bioavailability of the coenzyme Q10 that is utilized in HELVESANA® products was verified in scientific studies.
